Passing the music on..
Choral Nova is the brainchild of professional musician Lizzie Deane.
Growing up in the Midlands, Lizzie gained a BA (Hons) Music Degree and Advanced Acting Diploma at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Following classical training in her school and college years, her musical journey began with choirs and musical theatre, before a spell with various function bands proved to be the catalyst in changing her music career-path. Her voice evolved from a classical soprano into the powerful, soulful instrument she now possesses, enabling her to work with many of the respected artists that have inspired her.
Having performed and toured with many highly-acclaimed artists including Pee Wee Ellis & Fred Wesley (JB Horns), Carleen Anderson, Marcella Detroit, Martha High, Mica Paris, Kim Mazelle and Jocelyn Brown, as well as Boy George, Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones and Just Jack, Lizzie Deane has a wealth of stage, TV, radio and session experience. She stepped out of the shadows with her fabulous band and released her first solo album to rave performance and album reviews. Whilst retaining a strong individual style of her own, Lizzie has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Lisa Stansfield and Joss Stone. Lizzie put her own stamp on the renowned classics whilst showcasing her own songwriting talent with her original music. Her album 'Set Me Free' is available on iTunes and Amazon Music or you can learn more about this from her website: www.lizziedeane.com
'The Lizzie Deane Band' are regulars at London’s musical hotspots such as ‘The 606 Club - Chelsea’, ‘Pizza Express – Soho’ and ‘Boisdale – Canary Wharf’ to name a few.
In addition to her own project, Lizzie collaborates with other artists and songwriters such as renowned saxophonist Dave Lewis and his band ‘1UP’ who also play regularly at ‘The 606 Club’ and ‘Ronnie Scotts’ in London. She regularly sings with top acapella vocal groups, Get Gospel and Vocally Bespoke
Aside of 'The Lizzie Deane Band', she also heads up a vintage vocal duo specialising in music from around the 1940s. Her group 'The Battle Prom Belles' perform yearly at the Battle Proms Concerts, held at Blenheim Palace, Hatfield House, Burghley House and Highclere Castle.
Lizzie is a talented vocal arranger, recording and producing vocals for various projects. She was recently responsible for arranging, recording and organising the vocals for the 2021 ‘VERY’ Christmas advert.
As well as being a regular voice-over artist, Lizzie is also a hugely experienced vocal coach and choir leader, running regular workshops and events. She runs sessions with luxury singing specialists ‘Singing Holidays’, having travelled to Italy, Croatia and Austria.
Having sung in many choirs herself over the years (including performing her own composition on 'Sainsbury's Choir Of The Year'!) Lizzie is passionate about getting back to her classical roots by setting up this vibrant, new choir which explores the genres of classical, world, swing & jazz, folk, gospel and musical theatre music. Her wealth of performance expertise will help you to discover the true joy of singing together in a fun and fulfilling way.
